San Diego, California Oct 22, 2026 (Issuewire.com) - Ting Therapeutics Advances TT004 into Phase Ib Clinical Trial as a Potential Chemoprotective Therapy for Cisplatin-Treated Patients
Ting Therapeutics, Inc., a biotechnology company developing therapies for treatment-related tissue injury, today announced that its lead candidate, TT004, has received IND approval in China and is advancing into Phase Ib clinical development as a potential chemoprotective therapy for patients receiving cisplatin chemotherapy.
Cisplatin is a highly effective cancer treatment, but its toxicities can substantially limit therapy. Approximately 40% of patients discontinue or modify chemotherapy because of treatment-related toxicities. Cisplatin can also cause permanent hearing loss in up to 80% of patients and acute kidney injury in approximately 30% of patients.
TT004 is designed to protect normal tissues from cisplatin toxicity while preserving its anticancer activity. In preclinical studies, TT004 increased survival following cisplatin exposure three-fold and reduced cisplatin-induced hearing loss and kidney injury by approximately 70%, without compromising cisplatin's anticancer effects.
"These findings support our vision of TT004 as a chemoprotective therapy that could improve the tolerability of cisplatin while maintaining its anticancer efficacy," said Jian Zuo, PhD, Co-Founder and CEO of Ting Therapeutics. "Our goal is to reduce the suffering caused by cisplatin treatment-related toxicities, help more patients receive and complete effective chemotherapy, and improve their long-term quality of life."
Ting Therapeutics recently licensed its China rights for TT004 to Rising Dragon, a Chinese biotechnology company, for development in China. The companies jointly developed TT004 as an oral tablet and obtained IND approval from China's Center for Drug Evaluation (CDE) for first-in-human clinical evaluation.
The Phase Ib trial, conducted in collaboration with oncologists and otolaryngologists at Eye and ENT Hospital of Fudan University in Shanghai, will evaluate the safety and tolerability of oral TT004 administered with standard-of-care cisplatin chemotherapy in patients with head and neck cancer. The study has received institutional ethics approval and is preparing to initiate patient recruitment.
TT004's protective effects have been demonstrated only in preclinical models and have not yet been shown in humans. This trial is the first clinical evaluation of TT004 and an important step toward determining whether these effects can be translated to cancer patients.
